Barbara Smith Randall is a native Oregonian with a passion for local food and beverages, particularly the fine pinot noir and pinot blancs made in the Willamette Valley.
Growing up she was surrounded by food adventurers. Her grandmothers were both talented cooks and food preservationists, skills they passed along to Barb's mother Ramona Iverson Smith and father H.F. Bud Smith. Cooking was entertainment for the Smith family. Ramona treated her family to homemade cookies and candies during the holidays, plus homemade dill pickles and other preserved foods were "put up" each summer to enjoy during winter.
Barb lives near Portland, Ore. and enjoys steelhead fishing and hiking.
